AppleScript to remove a ScanSnap File Once ABBY FineReader Performs OCR

Remove Unprocessed By FineReader.scpt is a FolderAction AppleScript to remove files produced by ScanSnap like “/2008_12_28_17_32_30.pdf” once FineReader produces one  like “2008_12_28_17_32_30 processed by FineReader.pdf”.  To use it you will have to know how to install a FolderAction, and you will need Growl installed.  This makes filing easier since there is only one file to deal with after [...]

Exporting From Yojimbo to File System

An initial attempt at export using Yojimbo’s menu item led me to the sad realization the export does not preserve keywords and comments by copying them into the items spotlight contents.

From the New York Times:
It could mean that the government would mandate, or at least heavily influence, what kind of cars companies make, what mileage and environmental standards they must meet.
How about making cars people want to buy?
In the short term, Democrats are floating the idea of linking $15 billion in immediate loans to the designation [...]

Tim Bray on Lotus Notes

Tim Bray on Lotus Notes: “one of the worst pieces of software ever inflicted on the world.”.

Yikes - A Very Scary Coalition

The NDP, Liberals and Bloc are planning a coalition.  This does not portend well for the economy.
All sorts of folks think the government should be pulling this lever and that lever to manage the economy.  In Canada we don’t really (IMO) need a stimulus bill - aggregate demand worldwide is being managed by stimulus bills [...]
