In a surprise announcement, Harper said that if elected, he will not allow bitumen to go to countries who do not have equivalent greenhouse gas emission reduction standards.  Beyond stupid.

Hey, its their country, who is he to decode for them and all the investors who produce bitumen in Canada.

Dion was quite upset at being accused of cheering for a recession – but the accusation seems quite apt.

I certainly have more critical to say  about the liberals than the conservatives, but I can’t bring myself to support either right now.  I do like the idea of another minority government that can’t accomplish anything substantial.  Less is more.

Dion is quoted:

“The less distance our food has to travel, the better for farmers and for the environment,” Dion declared to a small group of farmers and Liberal supporters gathered at a sun-drenched family grain farm in Headingley, Man., west of Winnipeg.

If he truly believes that, he can legislate a 100 mile diet.  Or even a 10 mile diet. Lets see how that affects our standard of living.

In fact Dion is wrong – the cheaper food is and the more choices we have, the better is is for the environment and consumers.  He would like us all to serve farmers rather than the other way around.

Stéphane Dion  thinks consumers are not  paying enough for food.  It is not enough the farmers receive the market clearing price for their goods –  Stéphane Dion has promised 1.2B for farmers.

With his main competitor running really creepy TV ads, I just can’t imagine taking the time to vote in  a race between two leaders trying convince the public whose kung-fu centrally planned economy will be the best.

I think the best expression of citizenship is to note vote, unless you truly believe in your heart one party has a strong moral and policy high ground.  If you really believe in central planning, and that the government is better than the market at setting prices, vote for the NDP. If you aren’t a Marxist or haven’t accepted environmentalism as your religion, be a good citizen and express your disgust for the two main parties by staying home on election night.
