The Value of Services
I have been using more and more services so that I can use my time (as much as possible) for things I want to do (work and leisure). Yesterday, I finally met Gurnum who owns and operates “Doug’s Window Washing”. His company has been cleaning my gutters for a several years, but I had never met him - I would just show up from work one day a few weeks after I called and my gutters would be cleaned.
Yesterday, I had asked for my windows to be cleaned (inside & out) as well as gutters (inside & out). I am not sure how long the crew was here or why they spend so much time on the roof - I was focused on retooling my GTD system (every work project has a next action - yay!). It would have taken me a whole day to clean my gutters & windows - assuming no trips to the hospital from falling off a ladder.
I now outsource:
- lawn care
- some gardening
- house cleaning
- gutter cleaning
- window cleaning
- sprinkler system service
That frees up a lot of time, to which I can spend on something more productive or enjoyable. Time is a non-renewable resource.
