A library in your home? How about a Kindle.
I have some friends who use Library Thing. I toyed with the idea very briefly, but I realized that is going to complicate my life and encourage clutter. Imagine how much effort it is to get rid of a book! You have to remember to go to Library thing and remove it from your database.
Now i keep as few books as possible. Fiction, unless I am going to read it again or I think my son will grow into it, goes out after I have read it (or read enough to know I don’t like it). My textbooks from University are mostly gone into the blue box (couldn’t get someone to pick them up using freecycle). I have collected a few math books of interest, and a number related to my career I will refer to from time to time. I have been keeping the Ian Banks books (except ones I didn’t like) and my philosophy section (mainly Ayn Rand titles) looks cool on the shelf. Calvin’s books hang around for awhile. Otherwise, I read and discard.
I like the idea of an electronic reader. My PocketPc wasn’t too bad for reading, I don’t think the Blackberry would do. The Kindle concept quite appeals to me. Not available in Canada. I haven’t powered up the PocketPc in a couple years.
The problem is, I am getting more and more stuff to carry. I now have a voice recorder as my GTD Ubiquitous Capture Device, a Blackberry for my calendar, I could use an IPod for a few things, and next it will be a reading device.
