ScanSnap S510M Initial Experience
No matter what technology I buy, I always run into a big time sink.
I want to scan and discard my brokerage confirmation slips. About half of them are on 8.5″ by 11″, but the other half and 9″ by 4″ which will not fit in the scanner without being rotated. The 8.5″ by 11″ scans quickly and without problem.
Scanning the 9″ by 4″ slips is a challenge. About 1 out of every 5 pages is randomly rotated by the software - very annoying. Could be 90 degrees, 270 degrees, or even 180 degrees. So I have to go through with Acrobat Pro (which comes with the scanner) and rotate some of the pages manually to get them all on the same rotation, then rotate them all so they are in the correct orientation and redo the OCR (the OCR normally happens automatically as part of the Scan by a program called FineReader as part of the scanning process, but the OCR on the rotated pages is weirded).
Then I had trouble with the OCR silently exiting on the files edited by the process described above. Anyway, works now.

There is an option not to auto-rotate the images.
