FolderShare + Feeds
I think it would be cool if foldershare published a feed indicating what is new on a daily or weekly basis in a particular folder. One of my main uses is drop some video or photos into a directory for a friend or relative, then email them to tell them what is new. If foldershare published a daily whats new, I wouldn’t have to email my friend to let them know what is new. A slightly less clunky solution.
What I would rather do is tag files “for:graham”, “for:paul” etc. on my computer (a mac in my case) and be done with it; the infrastructure would arrange for the files to be transferred to the appropriate parties computer and let them know what is new. An extension of the del.icio.us for: tagging mechansim used for letting your friends know about web sites they might be interested in. Maybe someone will write an IPhoto plug in to do this: Anything tagged with a for:paul could go to a paul folder on my drive (inserting IPTC data on the way) along with an atom feed of what is new?
Extending the idea, how about a for:flickr, or for:smugmug tag, which would automatically sync the file every time it changes to the web service and stick it in the right smart album based on keywords embedded in the file. That would be slick.
