SmugMug Uploader
I tried the new SmugMug Universal Drag and Drop Uploader. I found this very frustrating. I had to delete my album on Smugmug twice after uploading photos and then start the upload process over.
The first time I tried to use it, I received verbal indication that my upload didn’t work, so I tried a few times, and ended up with several copies of some photos on my album. So I deleted them and started over.
The second time, the files were uploading and a splash screen (i.e. new browser window) indicated the files were uploading, so I went to another album to add a photo to it. The upload to my first album aborted, so I had to delete all the photos and upload again (either that, or try and figure out which ones made it and which ones didn’t).
The OSX uploader is also clumsy, the drag and drop uploader is supposed to be an improvement. I am getting a little frustrated and the difficulty of using SmugMug on a Mac and I am thinking of using another service instead. It probably works a lot better on PCs.
What I would really like is a service and IPhoto add-in that lets me select an album in IPhoto and have it synchronize with web service setting - manual or automatic, with any IPhoto metadata embedded as IPTC info during the upload. And hosts my photos forever.
