Just Reboot It
I had trouble recently with my Shaw HDTV PVR. The technician on the phone said I had to reboot it ocassionally, just like a would a PC, because it has a computer in it.
Rebooting it twice fixed the problem. Unfortunately, rebooting the PVR requires it be unplugged, which is phyically difficult due to the location of the plug which is behind the TV.
I also find my Sony Wega TV needs to be rebooted from time to time. Occasionally, I’ll power it on, and the screen is lit but not displaying anything. Same problem, the plug is in a difficult spot to reach.
