FolderShare + Feeds

I think it would be cool if foldershare published a feed indicating what is new on a daily or weekly basis in a particular folder. One of my main uses is drop some video or photos into a directory for a friend or relative, then email them to tell them what is [...]

Impressive Response from SmugMug

I just noticed my email today regarding my recent uploader woes:
Hi Doug,
I am sorry to invade your inbox, but I noticed your blog post regarding
your uploading woes with SmugMug. I am the Product Manager at SmugMug,
and hopefully can help you get it sorted out if you want the assistance.
I have a few questions to try [...]

Smugmug Again

I mentioned troubles with the new SmugMug drag and drop uploader - I could not make it work.
I tried the OSX Uploader, it usually works OK, but occasionally it dies partway through albums (silently) until you click on the dialog box, when it shows an error:

SmugMug Uploader Again

Again, the SmugMug Universal Drag and Drop uploader failed on me again, I have no idea why this time.
So, I’ll delete the photos a third time from my album and use the OSX uploader (which has its own set of problems, but I can make it work).

SmugMug Uploader

I tried the new SmugMug Universal Drag and Drop Uploader. I found this very frustrating. I had to delete my album on Smugmug twice after uploading photos and then start the upload process over.
The first time I tried to use it, I received verbal indication that my upload didn’t work, so [...]

Wind Power Contributes to Carbon Emissions

The July 8, 2006 edition of NewsScientist discusses the damage to peat bogs by wind farms. Peat bogs, it turns out, store three times as much carbon as tropical rainforests.

Folder Share Usability Woes

Getting one relative onto foldershare wasn’t too hard - he had his PC here, so I could help him. It went pretty seamless, though he was annoyed with having to pick a nickname “Why the F#)( would I want a nickname”. I couldn’t explain that. I just said they meant login id, [...]

A Dell Axim User Writes

I just received this email and had to Laugh:
What A Piece Of F*(#*ing S$^#!
Don’t leave your Axim unplugged for any length of time. The battery will run down and it will lose everything!
But don’t leave it plugged in all the time because it will lock up and you will have to do [...]

Foldershare vs. Rsync vs FTP

I have been trying to figure out how to share folders of data between myself and some relatives - photos, and videos in particular, as well as other data we might want backups up. It is a nuiscance to try and send them through skype, and publishing a bunch of videos via the web [...]

Just Reboot It

I had trouble recently with my Shaw HDTV PVR. The technician on the phone said I had to reboot it ocassionally, just like a would a PC, because it has a computer in it.
Rebooting it twice fixed the problem. Unfortunately, rebooting the PVR requires it be unplugged, which is [...]
