Temporal Filing
I just saw an article on the Noguchi Filing System . I am trying something similar for receipts and warranties - I am planning one file per year.
I took an Economics course around 1986 from Andrew Booth (inventor of the Booth Algorithm). Dr. Booth lectured on a lot of things other than economics and brought in guest speakers, including his wife to talk about queuing theory and his son (who’s name escapes me at the moment) to talk about stocks and options.
I recall one of the things Booth discussed was an algorithm he suggested and perhaps implemented at a library somewhere. It had to do with getting rid of books. A certain class of book (I can’t recall if they were old, or rare, or what) were kept in order of last time they were used. Books that had not been used the longest were discarded. Reminds me now of a cache algorithm for a CPU.
