Freecycle Experiment
I recently acquired from a neighbor a 3′ walnut tree they dug out of their yard - it was a weed. We decided we have no spot for it, so rather than tossing it in the compost, I thought I’d post a note on Victoria Freecycle. The note was posted around noon yesterday, and today I have received notes from 15 people requesting the tree.
I have given away other stuff in the past:
- A TV whose power supply or tube whith a high pitched intermittent wail. I later contacted the same person who took the TV for a good cause and gave her an old 13″ TV we no longer had use for (same cause).
- An old futon mattress
It is a lot easier to give stuff away than to sell it or haul it away, and you can set up the list so you never receive email postings about stuff other people are giving away if you aren’t interested in other peoples stuff.
