El Rancho
Years ago my favorite Mexican restaurant in Victoria, BC, El Rancho dissappeared off Bay Street.
It turns out they didn’t dissappear, but moved. I must have driven by their new location in a rural area dozens of times. Last night Lisa & I went for dinner at El Rancho. Excellent Mexican food (in my opinion, the best in Victoria), but very slow - go when you have lots of time.
El Rancho is now located at the corner of West Saanich Road and Spartan Road.

I agree. Dan and I had our wedding dinner at the old El Rancho, and every time we went travelling we had a ‘bon voyage dinner there’. We didn’t discover that they had actually moved until three years ago, when we were taking some rellies out for a drive. We stopped there for dinner and it was just like old times. The woman (owner?) even gave us a free drink each when she heard how many years we had frequented El Rancho on Bay St. It’s a beautiful place to dine (especially in late summer on their balcony) The food is as authentic and wholesome as in the ‘good ol’ days.’
Try it if you love Mexican treats!
